About the Department

The Department of Philosophy is one of the oldest departments established simultaneously with Mirza Ghalib College, Gaya in 1970, with Mr. Mosanna Rizwi as its visionary initiator, followed by the significant contributions of Mr. Arun Kumar, a dedicated former Professor Incharge . Dr. Naazni Begum succeeded Mr. Arun kumar as Head of the Department of Philosophy in the year 2019 and Dr. Sarim Abbas joined the Philosophy in February 2021. From 2023 onwards, the Course was converted into semester system from annual system, then again into CBCS system. Now from the session 2023-24 the department offering Four Year Undergraduate Program of Magadh University under NEP 2020. Since its establishment, the department has been committed to spreading and enhancing philosophical wisdom within various contexts and department aims at studying problems and concerns of philosophy cutting across traditions and narrow disciplinary boundaries.
