About the Department


The Department of Home Science focuses on the study of family life, human development, nutrition, resource management, and community living. It is an interdisciplinary field that combines science and art to improve the quality of life of individuals, families, and society.
The department offers knowledge and practical skills in areas such as Food and Nutrition, Human Development, Clothing and Textiles, Resource Management, and Extension Education & Communication. Through this, students gain both theoretical understanding and hands- on experience in managing resources, promoting health, and fostering social well-being.

With well-equipped laboratories and practical training, the Home Science Department prepares students for diverse careers in nutrition and dietetics, fashion and textiles, teaching, counseling, community development, interior design, child care, and social services.
The department also emphasizes research, fieldwork, and outreach activities, enabling students to engage with community issues, promote sustainable practices, and contribute to national development. Its vision is to empower students, especially young women, with scientific knowledge, life skills, and professional competence, while its mission is to nurture responsible citizens who can create healthier families
