About the Department


The Department of Commerce stands as one of the most distinguished faculty at Mirza Ghalib College, Gaya. Since its inception, the department has consistently delivered outstanding academic results and has played a significant role in shaping the future of its students. Notably, it has produced Bihar state toppers in the Intermediate Examinations in the years 2015, 2018, and 2022.
Established in 1979, the department began with the Intermediate level under the affiliation of Bihar School Examination Board and Magadh University, thanks to the dedicated efforts of Prof. Md. Habib, Prof. Shakil Ahmad, and then-Principal and Secretary Md. Qasim Ansari—widely regarded as the pioneer of the Commerce Department. The department expanded its academic offerings by securing affiliation for the three-year Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) programme in 1981 and later for the Master of Commerce (M.Com) programme in 2015.

The department is committed to imparting in-depth knowledge and managerial skills in key areas such as finance, accounting, taxation, and management. This academic excellence is reflected in its consistent performance.
Currently, the department is led by a team of experienced and dedicated faculty members, including Head of Department Dr. Pervez Wahab, Dr. Md. Jalil Akhtar, and Dr. Md. Saad Uddin. , The department providing quality education to over three thousand students, reaffirming its status as a centre of excellence within the college.
